Mr. Sujoy Choudhury, Chairman
Mr Sujoy Choudhury is Director(Planning & Business Development), Indian Oil Corporation Limited, one of India’s largest commercial enterprises and among the leading Indian companies in the Fortune Global 500 listings,
A Mechanical Engineer and MBA (Finance) from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, Mr Choudhury brings with him a vast cross-functional experience spanning every facet of the Indian energy business. He has rich experience working in Eastern, Western and Northern regions of the country and across various oil industry functions, including Engineering, Retail Sales, and Petrochemicals functions of the Corporation. During his more than three decades of service, Mr Choudhury has held several leadership positions.
As the Director (Planning & Business Development), Mr. Choudhury is in charge ofIndianOil’s Petrochemicals, Natural Gas, Exploration & Production, Alternate Energy & Sustainable Development, International Business and Explosives verticals, besides Corporate Planning.
Mr. Choudhury is non-executive Chairman of Green Gas Ltd., which is engaged in City Gas Distribution (CGD) business in 4 Geographical Areas (GAs); IndianOil Total Pvt. Ltd., which is engaged in Bitumen Derivative business. Besides, he is a Director on the Board of IndOil Montney Ltd., Canada which is handling IndianOil’s upstream business in Canada.Before assuming the office of Director (Planning and Business Development), Mr Choudhury was heading IndianOil’s Punjab State office wherein he was in-charge of all petroleum activities in the States of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, and in the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and Chandigarh. His major contributions include the Oil infrastructure of the State / UT’s, introducing Winter Grade Diesel for high altitude areas, developing specialized lubricants for FMCG industry, and introducing geotextiles and steel concrete structures for construction in hilly terrains.
Mr. J.P.Singh, Managing Director
Shri J.P.Singh has done B.Tech in Metallurgical Engineering from IIT Roorkee in the year1988. He has more than 33 years of rich experience in Oil & Gas sector along with other industries. He joined Hindalco Industries Ltd, Renukoot in July 1988 in Technical deptt. and served in the organization till July 1991. He then joined Hindustan Zinc Ltd, Chittorgarh in the same year and was involved in construction & commissioning of new plant. In May 1992, Shri JP Singh joined Gail (I) Ltd, Baroda. He has done first online gas pigging in GAIL (Kalol- North Kadi pipeline) to remove liquid /condensate in the pipe line to improve pressure drop. He was involved in ONGC takeover of Gas Installation and Pipelines by GAIL. He was involved in O&M of Gas Installation and Last mile connectivity to consumers. He has also involved in SAP implementation in GAIL and worked in Project Development Department. He has been instrumental in commissioning major gas pipelines of GAIL like Bawana – Nangal Pipeline, Auraiya – KFCL, Kanpur pipeline, restoration of gas supply to KG Basin customers after unfortunate blast in Pipeline at Nagarama village, Tatipaka. He also has the credit, for successfully commissioning Pradhanmantri Urja Ganga pipeline project from Dobhi to Matix Fertilizer, Durgapur and Spur line to HURL Sindari. He has also played key role in completion of Bokaro- Angul Pipeline of Jharkhand Section. He was also involved in O&M and construction for Jamshedpur CGD project. He has also worked in Bhagya Nagar Gas Ltd as Vice President (Projects).
Prior to joining Green Gas Ltd as MD, Shri J.P.Singh was handling GAIL’s Trunk pipeline construction activities in Jharkhand & West Bengal.
Mr. K. B. Singh, Non Executive Director, GGL
Shri K B Singh is an Electrical Engineering Graduate from BCE, Bhagalpur (Bihar) and graduated in 1986. Shri Singh carries a rich experience of over 34 years in the hydrocarbon sector. Sh Singh is also serving as Executive Director (ER & Projects) in GAIL (India) Limited as head of Corporate Projects Department leading multidisciplinary team consisting of technical, Contracts & Procurement, Finance, Civil and Survey & Land Records. In addition to Corporate Project Department, Shri Singh is also heading Eastern Region of GAIL. Shri Singh has also served as Chairman of TRIPURA NATURAL GAS COMPANY LIMITED (TNGCL), a joint venture between GAIL (India) Ltd, Tripura Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. During a long career of 35 years in GAIL, Shri Singh has been associated and part of various infrastructure projects of National importance in Oil & Gas Sectors in different capacities. Currently, Shri Singh is responsible for execution of projects amounting to INR 35,000 crores spanning 20 states, 150 districts including City Gas Distribution (CGD) hook-ups in 45 cities and O&M of 1100 Km pipeline network. As an overall in Charge of Jagdishpur- Haldia & Bokaro Dhamra Pipeline (JHBDPL), popularly known as Pradhan Mantri Urza Ganga Yojna (PMUGY), despite all the challenges, successfully managed to commission ~ 1100 Km pipeline section up to Patna in Bihar, Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh and Durgapur in West Bengal in phases. On succeffuly completion of phase-1 of JHBDPL under his leadership, GAIL received “Project Management Company” of the year award by FIPI. He is also the recipient of Best Executive Director Projects Corporate Management from Geomintech Excellence Awards 2020-21 and Impactful CSR leader by Assocham National CSR awards 2020. Shri Singh gained varied experience and competence in the areas related to Project Management, Operation & Maintenance of Pipelines, Contracts Management etc. Shri Singh is excellent in decision making and an avid problem solver with his vast technical knowledge and practical approach..
Mr.Sharat Kumar, Director (Commercial)
An electrical engineer from Bhagalpur College of Engineering, Shri Sharat Kumar joined Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. Marketing Division in 1997. He later earned his MBA (Executive) from FMS Delhi. He has 23 years of diverse experience in Operations, Retail Sales, Institutional Business, Alternate Energy (Solar Power Plants Installation/Operation, Energy Storage Solutions) and Corporate Planning.
In his prior assignments, he led an integrated multi-modal strategy to enhance the use of green energy at IndianOil through MW/KW-scale Captive Solar Plants at IndianOil locations and Retail Outlets. His innovation sparks from his collaborative approach across the organization to learn and his quest to standardize and institutionalize the work processes. He played an instrumental role in conceiving and leading the execution of the novel projects, such as solarization of world’s highest altitude LPG Bottling Plant operating on diesel, utilization of fuel-station canopy roof for solar installation through a collaborative engineering design innovation. His thorough inputs on current global developments and future prospects in energy sector, especially alternate energy, has assisted in decision making for major investment / diversification decisions. He played an important role in shaping up the alternate energy roadmap for the organization’s draft Vision-2030 document. He also has wide range of Marketing experience – spanning from Operations to Sales to Institutional Business. His strength of building strong inter-personal relationship makes him have a strong network presence across the organization and government authorities.
As the Director (Commercial) of Green Gas Limited, he looks forward to leverage his passion for green energy sources coupled with his pursuit to make business processes efficient and his diverse functional experiences.
Mr.S L Raina,Independent Director
Mr.S L Raina, is a Science & Law graduate and holds Master’s Degree in Business Management. He also possesses qualifications of M.A. (Public Admn.)and Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management. He retired on attaining the age of superannuation from services of GAIL (India) Limited as Director (Human Resources) on 31st May, 2013 after serving GAIL for more than 28 years in various positions/disciplines and at various locations. As Director (HR), GAIL, optimized and streamlined the functioning of HR Directorate, to fall in sync with Organizational Strategy/Goal. .
He has been on the Board of Directors of GAIL Global (Singapore) Pte Ltd., Shell Compressed Natural Gas (Egypt), Tripura Natural Gas Company Limited, Mahanagar Gas Limited, Brahmaputra Cracker & Polymer Limited and ONGC Petro-additions Limited.
He has over 36 years of experience ranging from Human Resource Management/Development, Training, Legal and Marketing functions, at Senior Management level(s). Prior to joining GAIL, he worked in National Textile Corporation for more than 8 years in Personnel Deptt. Post-retirement from GAIL, he has been functioning as a Consultant in HR & Legal Matters which include Policy Formulation, Imparting Training and Conciliation.
Mrs. Usha Gupta,Independent Director
Mrs. Usha Gupta retired from Indian Revenue Service from the position of Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, on 30 June 2009. Post superannuation in 2009, she functioned as Income Tax Ombudsman Uttar Pradesh & Uttarakhand, to facilitate grievance redressal of the taxpayer community. She has done her M.A. in Psychology from Lucknow University and M. Social Sciences in Development Administration from University of Birmingham, U.K.
She has also been active in the area of women’s rights and social justice. She is married to Shri Atul K Gupta who retired as Chief Secretary, Government of Uttar Pradesh in 2011 and later served as Chairman, U.P. State Finance Commission. She has spent around 15 years of her life in social service and welfare of women and children. Mrs. Usha Gupta has diverse knowledge of administration, finance, HR, governance and social fields. She has successfully administered several initiatives in public domain and has been striving towards social and economic empowerment in the society.
